Zusammenfassung:A brake mechanism 12 for a rail chassis (6, Fig 1) for a ship mounted rail system (2, Fig 1) comprises a brake unit 14 couplable to a rail 8 such that it may move along the rail. The brake unit comprises a brake 16 and a resilient bias 18 that biases the brake towards locked engagement with the rail. The mechanism also includes an attachment for coupling a tow assembly to the brake such that sufficient actuation of the tow assembly (22, Fig 9) loosens the brake from the rail so that the rail chassis can be transported along the rail by the tow assembly. A lift unit (44, Fig 4) that comprises a lift actuator (46, Fig 4) movable between a first and second configurations, where movement of the lift actuator from the first to the second configuration causes the rail chassis to move relative to the rail from a resting position to a raised position is also disclosed. A deployment mechanism (40, Fig 2) comprising a brake mechanism, a lift unit and a tow assembly is also disclosed.
