Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Communicating with User Equipment (UE) devices in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) by a Wireless Access Point (WAP), by: associating, against each of the plurality of UEs, an item of information and a unique timeslot; encrypting the information to generate a ciphertext; broadcasting, by means of the WAP, for the WLAN, a network identifier comprising the ciphertext; identifying, by means a UE, the broadcast network identifier; and subsequently processing, by means of the UE associated with the identified timeslot, the identified network identifier, such that said UE derives the item of information allocated to said UE by decrypting the ciphertext. The WLAN may be Wi-Fi (RTM) based, and the network identifier a Service Set Identifier (SSID). The invention has particular application for UEs with limited battery or computing resources, and where there may be a large number of such devices in the WLAN (e.g. Internet of Things (IoT) devices). Such devices may be managed by a Device Management System (DMS). The invention provides for more efficient use of radio resources than serial broadcast of all instructions for all UEs.
