Zusammenfassung:	Methods are provided to calculate the life-cycle assessment (LCA) of a product. A method comprises uniquely identifying a product S510, and if it is determined that a database holds information relating to the product and its components S513, relevant data relating to each component of a product is automatically retrieved S514. The method further comprises automatically using the information to calculate a contribution to the LCA of each component S558, and automatically determining the LCA for the product from each of the component contributions. A method also comprises identifying each component and/or process in the production of the product which contributes to its LCA and identifying the provider of each such component and/or process. Invited providers are requested to provide information, in a predetermined format, for the calculation of the contribution to the LCA of a component and/or process. The LCA is then calculated using the information from each provider.
