Zusammenfassung:	A fuel injector suitable for gaseous fuels such as hydrogen, comprising: an outward opening injection valve needle (24, fig.2) in an injection nozzle (20, fig.2), the valve needle comprising a valve stem 40 with an axis V and a valve head 42. The head 42 comprising a sealing region 44 sealable against the valve seat, and a circumferential fuel guide region 60 downstream from the sealing region 44, the circumferential fuel guide region 60 including a first guide portion 62 and guide surface 65 and a second guide portion 64 and second guide surface 68. The first guide portion 62 guides the fuel injection at a smaller angle with respect to the valve axis V than the second guide portion 64. The first guide portion 62 guides the injection jet towards the lower half of the combustion chamber (8, fig.2) and the second guide portion guides the injection jet towards the upper half.
