Creating Offroad Maps with Vehicle Data

Systems, vehicles, and computer-implemented methods for logging positional coordinates and other data for an unmapped route. Using the positioning system 116 (e.g. GPS) and other data capture devices 150 (e.g. IMU 452, camera 458 or other devices 460 to measure roughness, slipperiness, or severity of terrain) associated with the positioning system, the positioning system may map off-road travel of the positioning system by logging positional coordinates and other information. This information can be subsequently accessed to present a map of a route for subsequent off-road travel. The positional coordinates may be used to plot the route while the additional data provides details about the nature of the route, the difficulty of the terrain, or other information that may be used in considering or traveling the route.
