Walk reel mower with a telescopic floating handle assembly having interchangeable handles, in situ backlapping, a traction bail, and interchangeable reel cutting units

A walk reel mower (2, figure 1) comprises a traction frame (4) which mounts a prime mover (6). The traction frame carries at least one ground engaging drive member (12, figure 2) that is operatively powered by the prime mover through a traction drive to self-propel the traction frame over the ground. The walk reel mower further comprises a handle assembly (34) that extends rearwardly and upwardly from the traction frame. The handle assembly includes a handle that is gripped by a user during operation of the mower to guide and manipulate the mower. The walk reel mower also comprises a common mount 18 adapted to attach a fixed head reel cutting unit 22 to the traction frame or to alternatively attach a carrier frame of a flex head reel cutting unit (22', figure 16) to the traction frame. The common mount may comprise a first pair of laterally spaced mounting surfaces which may face forwardly and extend vertically.
