Integrated circuit device, system and method

An integrated circuit IC device has communications circuitry to provide a communication link with an external apparatus. Processing circuitry has write access to memory for writing information indicative of a use condition of the integrated circuit device, such as time of powered operation, count of voltage over threshold, time of target power over threshold, environmental conditions during powered operation such as temperature, humidity, vibration, acceleration, mechanical shock. The communications circuitry has read access to the memory to provide the information to the external apparatus via the communication link. The information may be encrypted, authorised and the communication link may be secure. The communications circuitry may have coils which also forms part of energy harvesting circuitry for power. The device may facilitate wireless test surveys of end of life PCBs by determining the IC condition for resale, reuse, recycling, reducing electronic waste, e-waste. Three-dimensional integrated circuit technology 3DIC may be used.
