Zusammenfassung: | A docking station 500 comprising: a docking bay 510 for receiving the nozzle of a domestic appliance 400; a docking sensor 511 for detecting when the appliance 400 is held in the docking bay 510; a UV light source 90 for emitting UVC light to sanitise the nozzle of the domestic appliance 400; and a docking station controller 512 coupled to the sensor 511 to execute a decontamination program comprising using the light source 90 to sterilize the appliance 400. The light source 90 may emit light with a wavelength of 222 nm. The station 500 may further comprise a communication unit coupled to the controller 512 for enabling communication between the station 500 and the appliance 400. Also claimed is a combination of a docking station 500 and a household appliance 400, the appliance 400 comprising an air outlet with at least one nozzle. The appliance 400 may further comprise a filter, wherein a light guide is arranged to guide the emitted light to disinfect the filter. Examples of suitable domestic appliances include hairdryers or hair blowers, head wearable air purifiers, and robot vacuum cleaners. |
