Zusammenfassung: | A laminate structure comprising: a fibre laminate impregnated with a laminate matrix material; and a veil of carbon nanotubes impregnated with a veil matrix material. The laminate matrix material and the veil matrix material are both doped with carbon particles. In certain embodiments, the carbon particles are selected form carbon nanotubes and graphene. In a preferred embodiment, the carbon particles are graphene. The veil provides lightning strike protection and the laminate is preferably applied to an aircraft. Preferably, the laminate structure does not include a metallic lightning strike protector. The structure is manufactured by co-curing the laminate matrix material and the veil matrix material to bond the veil of carbon nanotubes to the fibre laminate. The carbon nanotube veil may be bonded to the fibre laminate by a co-cured joint or embedded in a matrix layer on the outer surface of the fibre laminate. A bonding layer may be incorporated between the laminate and the carbon nanotube veil; this bonding layer is preferably doped with carbon particles. |
