Zusammenfassung: | A DC power supply circuit comprises a rectifying circuit 116 for receiving an AC power supply V1 and generating a rectified voltage DC, a capacitor C1, and a switch M1 connected in series with the capacitor. A controller 48 has a voltage input 70 for sensing the AC power supply, the controller being connected to control whether the switch is open or closed. The controller is configured to determine 72 a voltage of the AC power supply based on the voltage input and determine 73 whether the voltage is within an acceptable range. When the voltage is within the acceptable range, the controller closes the switch, such that the rectifying circuit generates the rectified voltage. The switch may be closed at a determined expected zero-crossing point of the input voltage to reduce an inrush current to the capacitor. The voltage determining circuit may comprise an analogue to digital converter (ADC). A haircare appliance (hairdryer) comprises an airflow housing, an airflow generator and control circuitry for generating a drive current including an electromagnetic capability (EMC) filter (42, fig. 4). The EMC filter may comprise a common-mode filter. The airflow generator control circuit may comprise an H-bridge motor driver. |
