Zusammenfassung:	A hand dryer 4 has an electronic controller (40, fig 3). The electronic controller is configured to generate an appliance data record (60, fig 4) incorporating one or more appliance-specific data items, including an appliance identification data item, such as a serial number. The controller is configured to initiate a communications module (50, fig 3) to connect to a telecommunications network 10, and transmit the appliance data, optionally to a facilities management computer 8 and/or the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) 6. A user interface (42, fig 3) may include a display on the hand dryer or a display on a mobile device.
