Zusammenfassung: | A hole in an aircraft panel (e.g. wing cover access hole) is reinforced against fatigue by bonding a frustoconical reinforcement member 20 to the panel 10 using an adhesive 70. These are compressed together using an assembly comprising a compression member 40, a resilient rubber washer 50, a support plate 30, and a clamping bolt 62. The compression member 40 has a frustoconical wall portion of complementary shape to the reinforcement member. The support plate 30 can have a heater for curing the adhesive used to bond the annular reinforcement member to the panel, and a protrusion (38, fig 2c) to help centre the reinforcement member 20 during assembly. The panel 10 and reinforcement member 20 can be metal (e.g. aluminium), composite, wood or plastic. |
