Bracket

A bracket 10 for mounting an article, such as a solar panel, onto a surface, such as an existing roof, comprises a base plate having a first face 12 for abutting the surface and a second face 14 comprising a protruding receptacle structure 16. One or more holes 20 extend through the base plate, and the first face includes a circumferential recess surrounding one of the one or more holes. The holes may be provided by a channel wall protruding into the recess. One or more apertures may provide a passage between the hole and the recess to provide a fluid path for sealant. A partition structure may separate the recess into inner and outer recesses. A seal 40a/b may be attachable in the outer recess. A kit of parts may include a bracket insert and a plurality of seal elements. The bracket can be used as part of a roof-mounted or photovoltaic system installation. The bracket may be retrofitted to existing surfaces, and a seal may prevent water ingress.
