Zusammenfassung:Among other things, systems and techniques are described for LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) safeguards. A described technique includes receiving, at a LiDAR's spinning unit from the base unit, a command to activate a laser; obtaining, at the spinning unit, a measurement from a sensor to detect rotation of the spinning unit in the rotational plane; determining, at the spinning unit, whether a rotational speed of the spinning unit is greater than or equal to a minimum rotational speed threshold based on the measurement; and activating, at the spinning unit, the laser to produce output in response to the command based on a determination that the rotational speed of the spinning unit is greater than or equal to the minimum rotational speed threshold.
