Zusammenfassung:The invention provides a combination, kit or composition comprising: (i) one or more nitrite salt; (ii) a proton source comprising one or more acid selected from organic carboxylic acids and organic non-carboxylic reducing acids; and (iii) one or more organic polyol. On reaction of the one or more nitrite salt with the proton source in the presence of the one or more organic polyol, the combination, kit or composition provides reaction products which include nitric oxide, optionally other oxides of nitrogen and/or optionally precursors thereof and which are useful, for example, in the treatment of various disorders.
