Methods and systems for automated tagging based on software execution traces

A processor on a user device 120 captures call stack information for an executing application 124. The call stack information comprises stack frames corresponding to function calls in the application. Low level calls are filtered from the information, when they are called from a higher-level function included in the information. The information is transferred to a server 140 for analysis. The information may be a linked list of object names and methods. The function calls may be part of a purchase implemented by the application. The information may be compressed. The information may be captured by an operating system using an instrumentation library.
