Zusammenfassung:A method of controlling a cam phaser in a vehicle engine, selectively advance or retard a camshaft relative to a crankshaft, comprises determining an initial demand value (δ0) for said advance or retard, and setting said 10 cam phaser to apply said actual advance or retard (δ1) based on said initial demand value and an open loop compensation (correction offset) value (γ) determined dependent on the temperature of the engine. A relationship between engine temperature and compensation value (γ) may be stored in a MAP or table.
