Apparatus for device charging

An apparatus for controlling a power charging outlet in a passenger transport vehicle comprises a switch (3) operable to provide power (4) to an outlet (4) to which a user device (4) can be connected. The switch is controlled by a processor (5) which is configured to receive a signal indicative of a credential stored on a credential device by way of a contactless terminal (6) or a wired connection. Control of the switch is by verification or otherwise by the processor of the credential. The credential may be a charging token. The user device comprises a software application to enable communication with the contactless terminal. In a specific embodiment the apparatus is installed in a passenger seat of the vehicle which may be an aircraft (Fig 5)
