This electronic device is characterized by including: a recording control means for performing control to start recording content, which is at least one of video and audio, in accordance with an operation performed on one of a first operation unit and a second operation unit; and a control means for performing control such that, if content recording starts in response to the receipt of the operation performed on the first operation unit, said content is recorded as content of a new group differing from that of the content recorded immediately prior thereto, and if content recording starts in response to the receipt of the operation performed on the second operation unit, said content is recorded as content of the same group as the content recorded immediately prior thereto.
