The unitary deflection member may comprise patterned framework comprising a plurality of regularly spaced protuberances 18 extending from reinforcing member 14, two protuberances 18 being similar in size and shape, each protuberance 18 having transition portion 24 having a transition portion width and forming portion 26 having a forming portion width, wherein the transition portion width is less than the forming portion width. The protuberances 18 may be adjacent one another and be separated by a void defining a deflection conduit 16. The protuberances 18 may be regularly spaced apart in the MD or CD. The protuberances 18 may be parallel linear segments oriented in the MD or CD. The linear segments may have a cross-sectional shape selected from smooth rounded, pointed, ridged, stepped, multilevel, key-hole, mushroom, circular, oval, inverted triangle, T-shaped, inverted L-shaped, egg, pebble, or a combination. The framework may be a semi-continuous framework.
