Needle protection device comprising disassembly lock

A safety device for a syringe comprises a housing 120 having a main body configured to receive a syringe and a needle shield 22 comprising a sleeve telescopically arranged with respect to the housing 120 such that the needle shield 22 can slide over the housing 120 between an extended position in which a needle tip is covered and a retracted position in which the needle tip is exposed. The housing 120 further comprises a locking recess (122a, Fig 6B) configured to receive a latch arm 250 on the needle shield and a cut-out or groove 136 configured to receive a pin 240 of the needle shield. The latch arm 250 has both proximal and distal stop surfaces (252,254 Fig 7B) which cooperate with proximal and distal latching surfaces (154,156 Fig 7B) of the locking recess to lock the needle shield with respect to the syringe housing and prevent both retraction and disassembly of the shield.
