Zusammenfassung:	A method for locating cable body damage comprises determining a vibration mode of the cable, determining a curvature change rate of each point of the vibration mode, and determining a location point at which the curvature change rate is subjected to an abrupt change, the abrupt change location point being indicative of the damage location of the cable body. Determination of the vibration mode comprises exciting the cable body and measuring a vibration acceleration of each point of the cable body. The abrupt change is identified by taking differences between curvature change rates of adjacent points and determining whether a difference is greater than a threshold. The invention improves detection of small damage to a cable body.
