Datacentre communication

A system 100 for acoustic wave communication in a data-server room, the system comprising: a rack 102 for mounting one or more electronic devices; a first electronic device 104 mounted in the rack and communicatively coupled to a first acoustic emitter 106a and a first acoustic receiver 108a located within the rack 102; a second electronic device 110 comprising a second acoustic emitter 106b and a second acoustic receiver 108b; wherein the acoustic emitters of the first and second electronic devices are configured to modulate data onto acoustic waves, and wherein the acoustic receivers of the first and second electronic devices are configured to demodulate the data from the received acoustic waves. The first acoustic emitter 106a and receiver 108a may be coupled to rack posts or a rack door, where the acoustic waves may be communicated along the rack post or door. The acoustic waves may be emitted directionally and may not pass through the data-server room walls.
