Zusammenfassung:A method for operating an electrolysis system having an electrolysis block 11 based on a proton exchange membrane 4 is described. The method comprises the step of flushing (figure 1, 100) an anode-side flow path 1 of the electrolysis system 10 with nitrogen and/or an inert gas up to an instant of electrochemical activation of the electrolysis block 11. The anode side flow path runs through the electrolysis block 11 and has an anode 2 and a proton exchange membrane 4 inside the block 11. The anode-side flow path 1 is also configured to circulate a volume flow of deionized water. An electrolysis system 10 is also detailed.
