Zusammenfassung:A display device having a backlight 200 with a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) 211 and a phosphor film 218. In one invention, some LED light leaks by bypassing the phosphor film and follows a path ((b), fig 4), ((c), fig 5) through a light modifying portion 220a. The light modifying portion may be in a peripheral region of the display (220, fig 3), and modifies the light such that it more closely resembles the light passing through the phosphor film. The invention seeks to prevent a colour difference being generated between leaking light at the periphery of the display and the central portion of the display. In another invention, an adhesive film 215 is on the LEDs and a light-modifying sheet 216 is on the adhesive film. The light-modifying sheet has a plurality of light-modifying patterns 216b which at least partially overlap the LEDs and have one or more layers (216p, fig 8). Air gaps are present between the layers and the adhesive film. The light-modifying sheet is for reducing brightness deviation, thereby creating a backlight with a more uniform luminance.
