Zusammenfassung:	A compact tampon applicator comprising an outer barrel 100, a pledget 300 and a segmented plunger 150. The plunger comprises a first and second portion 152, 156, in which the first portion is located inside the outer barrel and the second portion is located outside prior to use. The first portion of the plunger has a pledget contact end that is inside a gripping end 120 of the outer barrel. The second plunger portion has a connection end which is moveably attached to the first portion and a push end. Prior to use the push end of the second portion is moved away from an insertion end of the outer barrel to a position that creates a continuous longitudinal axis between the first and second portions of the plunger. The two portions of the plunger may be foldable and connected through a hinge 154. The first portion of the plunger may comprise a passageway 153 in which the passage way may be angled, tapered, sloped or conical. The plunger portions may comprise a locking portion 158.
