Establishing a telephony session

Receiving, at first device 105, a telephony session establishment request from a telephony network equipment 115 over a signalling link. Determining whether a user of the first device accepted the received session establishment request. In response to acceptance of the session request, transmitting an acceptance message, indicating acceptance of the received session establishment request by the first telephony device user, to the telephony network equipment via a data link 125 separate to the signalling link, and performing a predetermined action responsive to the first device user not accepting the session establishment request. At a telephony network equipment, receiving a session establishment request from a second telephony device 110, transmitting a session establishment request based on the received request is to a first device. Determining whether an acceptance message to the request is received from the first telephony device via a data link separate to a signalling link and establishing a session between first and second devices based on the acceptance message. Predetermined actions may comprise causing sessions not to be established or not transmitting acceptance messages via a data link. Session establishment may involve session legs. The first device may be associated with a multi persona user associated with identifiers.
