Zusammenfassung: | An electrolysis cell 12 comprising an integral membrane electrode assembly (MEA) 30 which comprises an anion exchange membrane (AEM), a cathode 40 and anode 20. The AEM may comprise a backbone selected from the group consisting of: poly(arylene), poly(phenylene), poly(phenylene oxide), poly(sulfone), and poly(styrene-b-ethylene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) copolymers. The AEM polymer may comprise alkyl or piperidine side chains configured between a functional group and the polymer backbone. A hygroscopic additive may be present in the AEM for improving moisture retention properties. This hygroscopic additive may be a solid desiccant such as anhydrous silica or an ionic liquid desiccant. The electrolysis cell may form part of an environment control system (10) coupled with an enclosure (50) to independently control the oxygen concentration and the humidity level within the enclosure. A controller (81) may control the amount of voltage and/or current provided to the oxygen depletion electrolysis cell and therefore the rate of oxygen reduction. |
