Zusammenfassung:	A surfactant comprising the reaction product of [a] an epoxidised carboxylic acid ester, such as epoxidised methyl soyate (epoxidised soybean oil methyl ester) and [b] a compound including at least one reactive alcohol, such as polyethylene glycol 200, polyethylene glycol 600, polyethylene glycol 1500, polytetrahydrofuran 650 and/or amino functional group, such polyether diamine based on polypropylene glycol. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the surfactant; a derivatised surfactant comprising derivatising the surfactant with a derivatising agent, such as amidation of the ester group with diethanolamine or dimethylaminopropylamine, or sulfonation using sodium bisulfite; a method of preparing the derivatised surfactant and use of the surfactant or derivatised surfactant as a dispersant in inks, paints, pigment preparations, dispersions, personal care, agrochemicals, oilfields, lubricants, fuels, coatings, cosmetics or emulsion polymers.
