Fibrous nonwoven web with uniform, directionally-oriented projections and a process and apparatus for making the same

A fibrous, nonwoven web with top surface 12, bottom surface 14 and uniform projections with a base portion 36 with vertical axis 38 perpendicular to the plane of the top surface and an asymmetric head portion 50 on top of the base portion with a lateral dimension 54 skewed with respect to the base portion vertical axis such that the head portion forms an overhang area 60. The top surface of the web may have a knap due to the projections such that it is smoother to the touch in one direction as opposed to the opposite direction. A wipe or personal care absorbent product may comprise the non-woven web. The personal care absorbent product may be a body side liner and a garment facing sheet with absorbent core between, where the body side liner comprises the non-woven web. The product may be a diaper, sanitary napkin, child training pant or incontinence device. Also claimed is a process of manufacturing a non-woven web.
