Zusammenfassung:A hinge assembly for a ground surface access assembly having a frame and a cover 104. The hinge assembly includes a housing configured to receive a tab 106 of the cover and a pocket 14 extending from the housing for receiving the tab to hold the cover in a vertical open position. The pocket includes a pocket preserving device 16, which prevents grit or dirt from blocking the pocket. The pocket preserving device may be made of foam or another deformable material. The hinge may include a barrel 18 through which the tab extends, or may include a deformable material within the housing. The frame may include a seal 108 for sealing between the cover and the frame when closed.
