Attachment for a handheld appliance

An attachment for a hair styling apparatus, the attachment comprising an air inlet 12 for receiving airflow from a hair styling apparatus, an annular air outlet 28, and a duct for conveying air from the air inlet to the air outlet, wherein the plane of the air outlet is orientated generally parallel to the direction of airflow at the air inlet. The outlet preferably has a width between 0.5mm to 4.0mm, and more preferably from 1.0mm to 2.0mm. The duct preferably has a width from 2.0mm to 5.0mm, and more preferably 3.0mm to 4.0mm. The duct may have a cross-sectional area that gradually decreases with proximity to the outlet, and the outer wall may be inclined towards the inner wall towards the outlet. Also disclosed are vanes for directing airflow, a secondary outer wall forming a secondary duct for reducing surface temperature, and ultrasonically welded ribs connecting the inner and outer walls.
