A method and system for transferring a digital asset

This application concerns transferring digital assets, e.g. loyalty points, between two users. The first user is authenticated as owning the digital asset by inspecting a transaction database 801. The transaction database is updated to identify the second user as owning the digital asset. A graphic asset associated with the digital asset is provided to an electronic device of the second user, e.g. smartphone 200A-C. The graphic may be associated with a digitized transaction card in a digital wallet application. The transfer may also provide metadata comprising an identifier for the graphic, which may link the graphic and digital asset in the transaction database. A graphic may also be associated with the digital asset in a digital wallet of the first user. The first user's graphic may be disassociated upon transfer of the digital asset, or may be replaced with another graphic upon partial transfer of the digital asset. The transfer may be in exchange for a second digital asset from the second user. The database may be a distributed ledger or blockchain 805. Also disclosed is a method of replacing a graphic asset for a transaction card in a digital wallet based on preference information communicated to a management server.
