| Zusammenfassung: | A rail cover 1 for covering the underside of a railway rail 100 is provided; the rail cover may be positioned between the rail and a cable 200, passing under the rail, so as to protect the cable from wear. The rail cover comprises mutually connectable first and second cover parts 11, 21 that are configured to respectively extend around opposing sides of a foot 110 of a railway rail. The connectable parts are joined by an interference fit, or a ratchet mechanism that resist separation of the mutually connectable parts. The ratchet mechanism may be a rack and pawl-type mechanism. The cover parts may be electrically non-conductive. The rail cover may further comprise a first sleeper cover part 10 extending perpendicular from an edge of the first cover part, and a second sleeper cover part 20 extending perpendicular from an edge of the second cover part.
