Zusammenfassung:	A method of controlling an illumination source associated with a control device located in a vehicle. The method comprises detecting a hand of a vehicle occupant within a volume of space within the vehicle cabin; determining the relative position of the detected hand with respect to the control device; and controlling the illumination source in dependence on a distance between at least a portion of the hand and the control device being less than or equal to a predefined threshold distance.
