Perspiration shield

In a first aspect a perspiration shield 101 releasably adheres to the skin of an underarm, comprising the layers (see fig. 2e) of a perspiration impenetrable layer 204, the impenetrable layer having adhesive 215 on its inward face; an absorbent layer 205 disposed on an inner face of the impenetrable layer; a reinforcing layer releasably attached to an outer face of the impenetrable layer; the reinforcing layer defining radially protruding regions 227 and concave regions 228. The reinforcing layer provides a stiffening function and helps the pad hold its shape whilst it is being applied, but can then be removed once in place on the user, in order to make it lighter and more comfortable. In a second aspect the impenetrable layer, adhesive and absorbent layer are as above and an ethylene liner to cover the adhesive until the shield is ready to be used. In a third aspect the impermeable and absorbent layers are as above and the adhesive comprises a silicone based substance.
