The first side plate 21, the second side plate 22, the level winding guard 23, and the mounting portion 25 are formed of a single member. The first side plate 21 has a thick portion 211 and a through hole 212. The thick portion 211 is formed in front of a spool on an inside surface of the first side plate 21. The through hole 212 penetrates the thick portion 211 in an axial direction. In addition, the through hole 212 has an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of a guide member 42. With aim of downsizing or compacting the fishing reel.
