Zusammenfassung:The present invention includes a device 10 for reducing the amount of oxygen in ambient air comprising one or more electrochemical stacks comprising: a cathode electrocatalyst 22, a proton exchange membrane 17, and an anode electrocatalyst 14, wherein when power is provided to the one or more electrochemical stacks, the anode electrocatalyst 14 electrolyzes water into protons 16 and oxygen 18, the protons traverse the proton exchange membrane 17, and the cathode electrocatalyst 22 reacts the protons 16 with oxygen 18 in ambient air 20 to form water, thereby reducing the amount of oxygen in the ambient air. A method for reducing the amount of oxygen in ambient air and generating gas is also provided.
