Zusammenfassung:A compartmental barrier (fig.1,10) has a cover 16 with an aperture, a burst-out disc 12, substantially covering the aperture, is located within a pocket around the edge of the aperture. The cover may be secured to the interior surfaces of an aircraft to form two internal volumes, minimising heat dissipation whilst still allowing smoke to pass through. The burst-out disk may be attached to the cover by a tether which prevents it becoming loose in the aircraft interior after rupturing during a rapid decompression event. Preferably, the cover is formed from a flexible textile and the pocket is formed by folding skin's 76,78 of the cover back on themselves. The pocket may contain two rings of material 80,82,84,86 per side, stiffening the rim of the aperture. The rings may be sandwiched between layers of double sided tape 88,90 and have a ply orientation of 30º or 60º relative to the cover's ply. The burst-out disc may have a decompression disc 62 and an insulation disc 64 sandwiched between three layers of double sided tape 66. The discs may be contained within skins 68,70, stitched together; the second burst-out disc skin 70 may have a ply orientation of 45º relative to the first burst-out disc skin 68.
