Zusammenfassung: | A method for implementing a memory module (100, Figure 2) for managing a data stream on a media player (101, Figure 2), the memory module being coupled with a media player data buffer (102), with a first set of received data segments (DS1, Figure 4) being stored in the data buffer and a second set of received data segments (DS2, Figure 4) being stored in a first region of memory storage of the memory module; the second data segments are associated with a time range T2 subsequent to the time range T1 of the first set. The second set is streamed S107 if the first set fails to satisfy a data criteria, e.g. the size or receiving rate exceeds a threshold. The size of data buffer may be fixed, with the size of the memory module adjusted dynamically depending on content. Second data segments (DS2) may consist of segments with a lowest bit rate of an adaptive bit rate system, first data segments (DS1) having a bit rate greater than or equal to this. The memory module may further comprise a second memory storage region for third data segments (DS3, Figure 4) preceding first data segments. |
