Zusammenfassung:	A gate valve, suitable for control of production of petroleum, wherein the valve comprises a gate and a seat and has a tungsten carbide coating on the sides of an internal bore surface of the gate and/or the seat of the valve to protect the internal bore surface against cavitation during opening and closing of the valve. Also claimed is a method of protecting a gate valve by applying a tungsten carbide coating to the internal bore surface. The gate valve may be used in subsea control of petroleum production in the oil and gas industry. The coating may be applied by HVOF, HVAF or CVD techniques.
