Vehicle airbag

An airbag includes a main panel 18 which defines an inflation chamber 20 and is inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag includes a pair of extensions 24, 26 spaced from each other, where each extension has a perimeter surface 28, 30 which extends transversely to the main panel on the perimeter of the extension. The airbag includes an impact panel 56 spaced from the main panel in the inflated position, and the impact panel extends between the two extensions. Each of the extensions may have a tether 60, 62 connected thereto and be in fluid communication with the inflation chamber. The impact panel may have a coefficient of friction that is different to a coefficient of friction of the main panel. The two panels may comprise woven fabrics, and each fabric may have a different weave pattern resulting in the different coefficients of friction. The impact panel and extensions are intended to prevent an occupants head sliding off the airbag during an oblique impact.
