Zusammenfassung:A clinical material suitable for use within or on a body of a patient, the material comprising a resorbable carrier material having antimicrobial properties, the carrier comprising one of acidified calcium sulphate, a calcium phosphate, collagen, cancellous and cortical allograft bone, cancellous and cortical autograft bone, a resorbable polymer, or a composite material comprising any two or more of. Preferably the carrier material is calcium sulphate is selected from the group comprising calcium sulfate hemihydrate, calcium sulfate dehydrate, or anhydrous calcium sulfate. The clinical material may further comprise a carboxylic acid, preferably acetic acid and/or lactic acid. The clinical material may further comprise a carboxylic salt of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, preferably lactate. A kit of parts for the production of a clinical material having antimicrobial properties for the treatment and prevention of infection within or on a patients body; the kit of parts comprising the resorbable carrier material, an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of a low molecular mass carboxylic acid and a carboxylic acid hydrating solution is also outlined.
