Zusammenfassung:A method, comprising: receiving image data from inside a vehicle 12 that includes a vehicle seat 24 and an occupant position within the cabin. Using this data, determining an orientation of the seat and an orientation of the occupant, and from this performing a vehicle function. The data may be received from a sensor 16 in the cabin and may be from a light detection and ranging device. Additionally, an airbag may be inhibited from deploying based on the orientation of the occupant relative to the seat. The function may include translating, reclining, rotating the seat, a combination of said functions or may align the axis of the seat with a primary direction of force (PDOF) of a predicted collision event. Finally, the function may control a directionality of an air vent 122 or an audio speaker 126 in the cabin. Another embodiment of the invention includes a method of determining, using image data, and an orientation of a vehicle occupant relative to a vehicle seat; determine an imminent collision event; and controlling movement of the seat based on the determinations. Aforementioned embodiments may include a computer 14 or a computer readable medium storing instruction which are executable by a computer processor.
