Zusammenfassung:	A start-stop system for a motor vehicle is provided. the start-stop system being configured to control the operation of an engine of the motor vehicle when a predetermined engine start-stop condition is achieved, wherein the start-stop system is configured to shut down the engine according to an operating condition of the start-stop system, wherein the operating condition is one of: a first condition, in which the start-stop system is prevented from shutting down the engine of the motor vehicle when one or more critical inhibitors are active; and a second condition, in which the start-stop system is prevented from shutting down the engine of the motor vehicle when one or more critical or non-critical inhibitors are active. A motor vehicle comprising the start-stop system and a method of operating the motor vehicle are also provided.
