Zusammenfassung:	A method of plugging a well extending into a formation to facilitate temporary or permanent abandonment of the well. The method comprises detonating one or more explosive charges (106) in a wet sealant (108) at a plug formation location to cut through the casing (101) and tubulars (102) of the well and into the formation. A foundation plug (104) is set below the region to be sealed. Additional sealant may be provided to the plug formation after detonation of the charges and the well may be pressurized while the sealant remains wet. The plug formation may be installed above or below a production packer. The apparatus for carrying out the method of plugging a well may include a cement stinger having explosive charges attached.
