Zusammenfassung: | Disclosed is a vehicle assembly with a side view mirror housing 115. A first and second LIDAR sensors 105a, 105b are disposed in the mirror housing, each having their respective field of view (FOV) 125, 130 pointed in opposing directions. A camera 110 is also disposed in the housing and has a third FOV 135 pointing in the same direction as the second LIDAR sensors FOV. The first LIDAR sensor may be disposed on a front-facing side and the second on a rear-facing side. The cameras FOV may overlap the second LIDARs FOV but not the first. The FOV of the camera may be adjustable, for instance by linearly moving the camera. The first and second LIDAR sensors may be fixed relative to the mirror housing. At least one of the LIDAR sensors or the camera may be flush with the mirror housing. Also disclosed is a method of controlling an autonomous vehicle according to a 3D model generated from first and second LIDAR sensors in a side mirror housing with opposing FOV. |
