Zusammenfassung:A chassis 10 for use in an electric vehicle, comprising a structure with chassis rails 11 extending along a longitudinal axis, and a frame 28 for accommodating a range extender 16. The frame is moveably mounted to the structure, and may be repeatedly movable from a retracted position to a deployed position, which could be achieved via a sliding mechanism comprising first and second arms (37, 38 Fig.4). Said arms may connect to the frame using telescopic guides (39, 40 Fig.5B). It is preferable that such a mechanism is orientated to operate in the transverse direction of the vehicle, so that the auxiliary power unit 16 may be situated on a longitudinal side of the vehicle. A frame actuator may be present, which would automatically move the structure 28 between the two positions. A locking mechanism comprising an electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic actuator could be utilised, with a bias towards the locked position. Mounting brackets (33a Fig.5A) may be provided for securement of the range extender to the frame, which could be adjustable so as to allow different types of range extender to be attached.
