Zusammenfassung: | An equipment cover 200, such as a housing for an electrical device, and method of making comprises moulding a cover from a substantially transparent or translucent polymer 210 having a textured outer surface 220 and a generally smoother inner surface 230; and applying a coating 240 having reflective components to the inner surface. Preferably, the coating may comprise reflective particles, such as mica powder, provided suspended in a lacquer as a printing ink which may be screen printed. A further substantially opaque coating 250 may be applied to the inner surface after applying the coating having reflective components. Preferably, the surface of a mould tool may be textured by etching or spark erosion to form the textured outer surface. The method may further comprise forming an opening in the polymer cover to expose an interface element; and further, areas of the inner surface may be masked before applying the coating having reflective components such that the coating is not applied in these areas allowing a user interface element to be visible. The equipment cover may be provided with one or more mounting features for fixing the cover to a piece of equipment. An equipment cover wherein the texture depth is 25-25µm; the thickness of the polymer is from 1.5mm-3mm, the coating comprising reflective components makes up 12-18% of the volume of coating, and the substantially opaque coating is provided wherein the combined thickness of the coatings is from 15-25 µm and wherein the cover is arranged for attachment to a device with dimensions from 10x10x10mm to 200x200x200mm is further provided. |
