A support for a body part comprising first 14 and second 26 layers of three dimensional spacer fabric wherein the first layer 14 has a thickness between 4mm and 35mm, a compression resistance between 2kPa and 30kPa and a water vapour transfer rate greater than 1000g/m2/24 hours and the second layer 26 has a thickness between 10mm and 25mm and a water vapour transfer rate greater than 1000g/m2/24 hours. The device may be designed for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers and utilise third and fourth layers. The layers may have shaped portions and grooves or slots which form a contoured surface to support ischial tuberosities, sacral or heal regions. The spacer fabrics may be formed from polyester, polyamide, polyactic acid, corn starch based yarn, filament and textured yarn or elastomeric yarn.
